MTV has mentioned the episode of Made that was filmed at our Fort Ord event should air on Monday October 4th at 4/3 central time. Be sure to check with your local programming.
Things could change, but that's it for now!
Woohoo.

We have been asked why we removed some events this year. In total we removed 6 trail runs and 1 duathlon from our schedule. That still left us with a total of 34 events we did this year in SVE's name. We also time events for other companies.
The reason we have done this is registration numbers are too low for trail runs and the one duathlon. The person's who asked what happened never registered ahead of time. We simply cannot risk losing (more) on the events.
The last few trails runs a re a great example. Nisene sold out but was capped by the state. So we broke even for all that work. Quicksilver was good at nearly 100 entrants. Now we have Henry Coe with 30 entrants. The state charges a lot to run events. Henry Coe is a great place to run. So what gives? Waiting until the last minute helps no one. The price is higher for you. SVE eats all the swag it buys, so it effectivley doubles the cost of an event. Timing is difficult to setup for last minute entrants. Food is difficult to plan. We cannot plan on volunteers either.
I would love to hear your opinion on why you think this is? What can we do to help? How do other companies draw so many while providing less then we do?
We love putting these events on for you. We love seeing people finish their first event or setting a PR.
Thanks

Looking forward to seeing everyone who signed up! We ordered food for everyone. When you arrive we have an open tab at Naomi's Coffee so help yourself to whatever you like. We will also have some other goodies. When you finish your ride we have Straw Hat pizza and drinks. Come have fun, get timed on the Henry Coe climb, and hang out.
Bring your family, we have a bounce house for kids and some kids snacks.
Be sure to be there early enough to get checked in and make your start time. Everyone starts at 9:00 am in 30 second increments.
Weather- I climbed the course today and it was cool to start and warm on top. We can carry up anything you need. The average climb time should be about 1:15-1:30 and up. Back down will be faster.
We have cancelled the 44 mile MTB route through the park. Only one entry for that beast. Last year riders went up to 6 hours on it. For all other entrants this did not affect you.
See you tomorrow!

Everyone this is a free event at Concept Cyclery. It's open to MTB bikes, Road bikes, and Cross bikes. We stage at the store. We have morning food, coffee, and other supplies.
You go out for a tough ride to Coe and back (all bikes allowed) or if you are an experienced MTB bike through Coe (we supply the route) then through Harvey Bear. We have aid stations along the way. It's supposed to be fun, but we do time it.
You choose the route and we time you.
Hang out afterwards for some more food. Free to anyone who has raced one of our events. Any type of event. If you have not simply sign up and come join us.
Support your local scene.

The results for Fort Ord are up here: Results. Great job by all riders. The course was much tougher this time around.
How did everyone like being filmed by MTV? I was a little frazzled. But it was fun. And Emily finished her race! Great job. We will let everyone know when the episode airs.
Photos are up here: Link Please support the photographer. It's a lot of work to come out. Send the link to your familiy members and friends.
We do want to thank all volunteers. My mom and Earl for cooking, all the course workers, course markers and persons clearing. Paul Thompson who filmed Emily with a helmet cam. Without all of you we could not do this.
Please let us know what you thought. Thank you.

Greg,
This series has been a blast. You deserve a pat on the back as well as your entire crew. Elliot was a life saver for me today and got my bike working before the race. I saw you guys even lent your personal bikes to a guy who didn't have one. I was astonished to see how generous you guys have been at these events and how personable you all are. Many of you are accomplished triathletes, cyclist and runners and you treat beginners as if they are on your level. It also seemed like you had all your stuff together and things were done when they said they would be. I hope you do more events and I will volunteer to be out on course for some of your events that I can't participate. Please pass along the compliments to your crew and family for working so hard.
Sincerely,
Paul Marshall

The athlete guide is up for the Dirty Gear MTB XC race at Fort Ord this Saturday. Please read thoroughly. Give yourself enough time to get there. Once you leave the highway it is still a good 20 minutes.
Guide
Please pay special attention to parking.
The course is a lot of fun. There are sandy sections so beware. The famous sand downhill is like powder right now.
I rode it on my hardtail and it seemed good.
We are raffling off Look peddles, (2) Concept Bike Fits, and an Orthopaedic evaluation from Active Spinal. Make sure to get raffle tickets and turn them in. They are free.
Do not forget your US Cycling License if you have one.
Thanks

Well I do not think the weather is any issue this week! This should be a great event. I will be down a few times this week spotting filming locations for MTV. Maybe I'll see some pre-runners down there.
The course map is up along with a rough profile. This is a great course. The athlete guide will be mailed out on Thursday.
Prize money updates- The beginner class has hit the requireed threshold. The Sport and Expert class have not. Tell your friends if you want to win some money!
Concept Cyclery, Active Spinal, Look Cycles, and a few other sponsors will be there.
You never know, maybe you will appear on MTV's video.
